Poker refers to many gambling card games. All 52 cards are ranked in the descending order: Ace followed by King, Queen, Jack, then the numbers from 10 to two. The suits have same rankings. The Queens of spades and diamond are at par. The higher ranking card quashes the lower one irrespective of the suits. A poker hand is made up of five cards. If you have more than five cards and also select five to constitute a poker hand, the other cards would be irrelevant in the ranking process. Always the one having the higher card (top) beats the other. Mentionably, an Ace can be a low card as well. For example, 5- 4- 3- 2- A is a straight flush with the top card being five and not the Ace. One cannot also 'turn the corner' as in 4- 3- 2- A- K.
